CULTURE IS PERSONAL.
SO IS HAVING A POINT OF VIEW.
The song you overplay. The jacket you save for. The person whose work makes you want to make something yourself. Culture gets into your life long before anyone calls it culture.
RXA follows it there. Based in Los Angeles, we cover music, style, art, people, and the habits we pick up along the way. We like discovering something good. We like finding out why it works even more.
A GOOD REASON TO LOOK AGAIN.
An artist changing direction when the old formula still sells. A small label with a world of its own. A familiar habit that starts to seem strange once you ask where it came from.
We follow the work, the choices, and the people behind them. Fame can get our attention. So can a first release. The interesting part is what there is to say once introductions are over.
And pleasure counts. Sometimes a record earns a story because you want to hear it again.
WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO TELL YOU WHY.
If we praise something, we'll point to what earned it. If we criticize it, we'll explain the problem. A strong opinion should survive a few questions.
The people we interview deserve room to answer in their own words. Readers deserve context, sources where they matter, and a clear difference between what happened and what we think about it. When we get a fact wrong, we should correct it.
You can enjoy something and still ask who benefits, what it costs, or why everyone suddenly wants it. We ask ourselves those questions, too.
SOMETHING TO TAKE WITH YOU.
Someone new to listen to. A detail that changes how you see a film. A question you bring into a conversation. A little more confidence in your own taste.
We want our stories to hold up after release week and still have something to offer when the conversation moves on. We leave room for enthusiasm, doubt, humor, and changing our minds. They're all useful ways of paying attention.
Come with your own opinions. We'd like to give you something worth discussing.
